Experience the power of CBG ‘the mother of all cannabinoids’
FAB CBD full spectrum CBG + CBD oil is a cutting-edge high potency oil that’s bursting with botanical terpenes and bioactive cannabinoids, and boasts a powerful entourage effect. This citrus flavour CBG + CBD oil is head and shoulders above other cannabinoid products out on today’s market by giving you a 1:1 ratio of CBD (cannabidiol) to CBG (cannabigerol). In fact, FAB CBD formula is considered to be the gold standard for cannabinoid supplements.
The 1:1 ratio of CBG to CBD and the wide range of other supporting cannabinoids and terpenes make this oil incredibly potent. Most customers find this to be much more effective ‘pound for pound’ than full spectrum CBD oil alone.
What is CBG
Cannabigerol (CBG) is a cannabinoid compound found in the young hemp/cannabis plant. As the plant matures CBG acts as a stem cell that produces all the other well-known cannabinoids like THC and CBD that are found in a mature plant ready to be harvested. The two main ways to obtain CBG for our consumption are by harvesting hemp when it is still young or by breeding strains of the plant that have naturally occurring high levels of CBG in them.
CBG differs from THC because it cannot get you high. In that respect, it is similar to CBD so is another safe cannabinoid that may provide you with more options if you find CBD is not working for you. However, it works on your body in different ways to CBD. So both CBD and CBG are cannabinoids that will not intoxicate you. They also interact with the same endocannabinoid system receptors in your body. These are the cannabinoid receptors commonly known as CB1 and CB2.
What Makes CBG Unique?
Despite the fact that there are lots of promising reports from studies regarding all of the great things that are linked to CBG, some brands are having difficulties producing large quantities of CBG products. The reason for this is that it can take thousands of pounds of cannabis to create very small amounts of CBG isolate. Most hemp plants only contain small percentages of CBG, however, there are newer strains that contain 20 percent or more of CBD. Therefore, if a crop’s CBG content is one percent, you would need to extract 20 times the amount of CBG in hemp just to mirror the amount of CBD that you would get from one crop.
CBG is one of the most expensive cannabinoids to extract from the cannabis plant because of all the hemp that it takes to create just a small amount of CBG extract. When it comes to cultivation, CBG can be problematic. The longer the cannabis plant spends in the soil, the larger the chance that CBGA and CBG will convert to other cannabinoids like CBD, CBC, CBN, and THC. Therefore, farmers have two options: either stick to growing smaller crops of cannabis that have high amounts of CBD, or try growing larger crops of cannabis and harvest it at an earlier stage to gather enough CBG. Additionally, specialised equipment is needed in order to extract CBG. Swiss precision from a chromatography apparatus is used to isolate CBG from other compounds in the hemp plant. And since high-performance chromatography is more expensive than regular chromatography, this can add to the overall cost of the final product.
What’s the Difference Between CBG and CBD?
While CBG and CBD have many similarities, they also have quite a few differences. The biggest differences between the two cannabinoids can mainly be seen in their:
- Molecular Makeup — Both CBD and CBG have different molecular structures, which means that they both bind with the body’s receptors in different ways. Because of this, they affect the body differently.
- Pharmacology — Since both CBD and CBG bind in different ways to the brain’s receptors, they will have different effects on the body.
- Effect on Appetite — CBG and CBD have opposite effects on appetite stimulation. Various studies conducted on rats showed that while CBG stimulated the rat’s appetite, CBD dampened it.
What potential health benefits does CBG have?
Understanding of what CBG may or may not do is truly very limited. There have been some studies but they are merely scraping the surface of a fascinating and wonderfully complex subject matter.
- There is some research showing CBG may reduce inflammation in inflammatory bowel disease.
- It appears to show some promise, along with some other cannabinoids, in treating bladder problems
- It may be the case that CBG is a powerful antibacterial agent and a 2008 study showed a possible ability to kill off the extremely tenacious and difficult to treat (due to being resilient to antibiotics) MRSA.
- There is some evidence that CBG is important in helping treat glaucoma by reducing intraocular eye pressure although this was observed as part of a treatment using full-spectrum medical cannabis.
- CBG also appears to have some neuroprotective qualities. This means it can protect your nervous system from damage. So further studies are needed into neurodegenerative disorders such as MS and Parkinson’s disease to see if they will respond to CBG.
- A 2015 study that used mice to investigate CBG as a possible treatment for Huntington’s disease showed some positive results. Of course, translating this into a human study will be far more challenging and complex.
- A study looking at colon cancer in rats drew the conclusion that CBG may help reduce the growth of tumours and cancer cells.
- There is also tentative evidence that CBG may be able to stimulate appetite.
It is very important to point out that these studies are not definitive answers and much more work is needed before we can understand the potential of CBG.
Why choose Full spectrum CBG +CBD
CBG (cannabigerol) and CBD (cannabidiol) are two cannabinoids found in the cannabis plant. While CBD has garnered more attention for its potential health benefits, CBG is also being studied for its therapeutic properties. Both compounds interact with the body’s endocannabinoid system and may have various effects on health and wellness. Taking CBG and CBD together may be more effective because they interact with the body in different ways. It is believed that using them together could provide a wider range of benefits, including improved pain relief and reduced inflammation.
Is CBD and CBG good for sleep? – While both CBG and CBD have the potential to aid in sleep, CBD is more commonly associated with sleep-promoting effects due to its interaction with the endocannabinoid system. CBG also shows sedative properties, but more research is needed to fully understand its effects on sleep.
Is CBG or CBD better for anxiety? – Both CBG and CBD have the potential to provide benefits for managing anxiety. While CBD is well-researched and recognised for its anxiolytic properties, CBG’s specific effects on anxiety are still being investigated. CBG’s interaction with various receptors in the brain suggests it may offer distinct advantages.
Which is more suitable for pain relief, CBG or CBD? Both CBG and CBD have demonstrated potential for pain relief. While CBD is more extensively studied and commonly used for its analgesic properties, CBG’s effectiveness in pain management is still being explored. Choosing between CBG and CBD for pain relief may depend on individual preferences and responses.
